Car accidents are classified as personal injury cases when filed in court. This means that a personal injury lawyer should be sought during such disasters. The driver, during an injury settlement, has a right to file a case against any manufacturers of automobiles and also against the guilty party. A highly efficient lawyer would be able to carry out justice if he can look at the details of the accident and document them to the court. They are the ones that are responsible in providing witnesses, filing police reports, and also giving details regarding the person in guilt.
When in Massachusetts, and you have encountered an auto accident, it is important to take note of the following information before leaving the accident scene:
• The driver’s name and address
• The driver’s license numbers
• The passengers’ names and addresses
• The names, addresses, and phone numbers of witnesses
• The registered owner’s name and address
• Name of insurance companies and the respective policy numbers
• The car accident location
• How the car accident came about
• Was the offending driver driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs?
• Any damages to the vehicle
• Any injuries
• The names of the police officers that offered their help on the scene
• Whether anyone admitted fault on the accident
Boston car accident lawyers are specialists in dealing with injury settlements. These people have the license to handle such cases and they are the perfect people to go to when confronted with such a dilemma. These lawyers also have a good understanding of the case litigations and they would know what to do when the driver experiences personal injury and car (property) damage.
Majority of automobile owners are now covered by car and life insurance but the car insurance only covers for the damages and even personal injury. Although the insurance could already take care of these, the settlement could be done immediately in courts to face the guilty party. The guilty party’s insurance should be able to take care of all the personal and property damages but in cases where his insurance won’t be able to cover for everything, then a case should be immediately filed in court.
A Boston car accident attorney could also help in negotiations that would bring about the compensation for the aggrieved party. An attorney is knowledgeable of all an injured party’s legal rights and he can assist the victim to be compensated for expenses on medicines, rehabilitation, even payment for minor fractures and disability claims.
These types of lawyers are specialists on car accident settlements and they help ascertain a smooth-flowing process during litigations. With their knowledge, any aggrieved individual should be put at ease as they can take over such legal matters into their professional hands.

Car Accidents and the Right People to Run to During Such Tragedies
January 27th, 2010Motorcycle Accident Checklist
January 5th, 2010
Riding motorcycles is an inherently more dangerous mode of transportation than driving in a motor vehicle. Unlike a car, there is nothing to protect a rider from the impact of a car, the concrete or a stationary object on the side of the road. Most bikers and motorcycle owners are aware of the dangers of riding a motorcycle ahead of time and prepare before each ride to make sure they are as safe as possible while on the road. For example, Arnold Schwarzenegger needed to receive nearly 15 stitches to his lip after hitting a car that backed out in front of him just a few years after nursing a few broken ribs from a motorcycle accident. What many bikers don’t do, is prepare themselves for what to do IF they are involved in a Motorcycle accident. The following is going to explain what you should do if you are involved in a motorcycle crash.
First:
Make sure everyone at the scene is alright and or receiving the necessary medical attention. This includes you. If you are severely injured, it may be up to other people at the scene to make sure you are receiving the proper medical attention. If possible, indicate to other motorists that there has been an accident and to slow down by using your hazard lights, road torches or warning triangles. Do not put yourself in danger and make sure you are in a safe location.
Second:
Call the police to report the accident and take in the accidents scene. Many times, whatever mental notes you have taken will be lost when the adrenaline of a motorcycle accident wears off. Write down all important information regarding the accident scene including:
Types of vehicles involved Color of vehicles involved Insurance information Names/numbers of other parties involved in accident Roadway conditions License plate numbers Accident Location Road Conditions Direction of Travel What all vehicles were doing at the time of the collision Use your phone camera or a regular camera and take pictures
Third:
When the police arrive, provide them with the necessary information so that they are able to assess the accident scene. Make sure you go to the hospital for a full checkup and make sure you get a copy of the police report (this may take up to two weeks for the police to make available to you). Make sure you take pictures of your bike!
Fourth:
Contact a lawyer. It is very important when dealing with big insurance companies, that you have a qualified lawyer on your side to negotiate the best financial settlement for you and your family. If you were severely injured in the motorcycle accident due to the negligence of the other driver or drivers, hiring a lawyer is in your best interest because this will effect you for the rest of your life.
Hopefully, you won’t have to put this information to use, but if you ride motorcycles, you need to know what to do if you are involved in an accident. Be smart while you are out there and Ride Safe.

Important Documents Needed By Lawyers in Auto Accident Cases
November 30th, 2009
After being involved in an auto accident and getting legal representation, there will be certain documents that you have to present to your lawyer for a better evaluation of your case.
Here is a list of important documents that you need to secure:
1. Insurance policy – A copy of your insurance policy will help your lawyer determine what type of insurance coverage you may be entitled to.
2. Proof of Premium Payments – These statement, bills, or receipts will show your periodical remittance of premium payments to your insurance company. This is evidence that will help prove that the policy is in force and is paid up.
3. Information Exchanged at the Accident Scene – You must give your lawyer all information exchanged between parties to an accident while at the scene. This includes names and contact numbers.
4. Police Information on the Accident – Provide your lawyer with a copy of the accident report drafted by police. This information contains important details in the accident including the on-scene officer’s initial impression and the diagram of cars and pedestrians at the time of the accident.
5. Tickets Related to the Incident – If you were issued a citation ticket related to the accident, give your attorney a copy of the ticket. This will inform him of the violation made.
6. Photographs – If your car was damaged in the accident and you have taken pictures of it, you have to show them to your lawyer. If you do not have a photograph, your lawyer can help you obtain a copy from the insurance company.
7. Statements Made to the Insurance Company – If you get involved in a car accident, a representative of your insurance company may have contacted you to get your statement about the accident. However, once you hire a lawyer, you are not obliged to give a statement to your insurance company. In any case, provide your lawyer a copy of this statement or inform him if you have given a statement to your insurance company.
8. Medical/ Psychological Records – Provide your lawyer all the medical records of your injuries and treatment made, and as much as necessary the psychological and psychiatric treatment you received, including the names and addresses of your health providers.
9. Income/ Pay Records – Give your lawyer a proof of your pre-accident earnings to help him calculate for “lost wages” compensation.
These important documents will help your lawyer obtain compensation for the damages you received as a result of the accident. To assist you better in your claim, a personal injury attorney who specializes in auto accidents can improve your chances of getting the compensation you deserved.
